Technical Abuse Policy
Last updated 3 September 2026
Rent Ride runs a rental desk, and a desk that is unavailable while somebody is standing at it has failed. Keeping it available means being strict about a small number of things. This Policy forms part of the Terms of Service and is the controlling statement of what counts as technical abuse of the platform, what follows when we find it, and how to tell us when you see it. Where the Acceptable Use Policy summarizes this subject, this Policy governs.
1. Prohibited Conduct
None of the following is acceptable use of Rent Ride, our systems or our network.
Unauthorized access
Reaching any part of the platform, our systems, or another business’s data without being entitled to it.
Service disruption
Interfering with the integrity or performance of the service, including denial of service and distributed denial of service attacks.
Automated abuse
Using bots, scripts or crawlers to send requests, scrape content, or otherwise work the service past what reasonable use covers.
Account misuse
Creating or using false accounts, impersonating somebody else, or anything else intended to deceive.
Security testing without permission
Penetration testing, vulnerability scanning or any other security testing, unless we have approved it in writing first.
Malware and malicious code
Uploading or passing on anything carrying a virus, worm, trojan or other malicious software.
Email and API abuse
Using our APIs or our email systems to send spam or phishing, or to make requests at a volume that degrades the platform.
Excessive load
Placing a load on our systems heavy enough to affect other businesses or the stability of the service.
2. Reporting Abuse and Vulnerabilities
If you have seen any of the above, or found a weakness in the platform, tell us and we will look into it. Send as much detail as you have, including logs, addresses, IP addresses and timestamps, so that we can reproduce it. Good-faith security research reported to this address and not disclosed publicly while we are fixing it will not be met with legal action from us; testing that degrades the service for other businesses, or that reaches another business’s data, is not good faith. The same address is published at /.well-known/security.txt.

3. Enforcement
Where we find abuse, any of these may follow, and more than one of them usually does.
- The accounts involved are suspended or closed.
- The addresses and traffic sources behind it are blocked.
- We take legal action, where the law allows it.
- We pass the matter to the appropriate authorities.
