Preventive maintenance

Also called scheduled service

Preventive maintenance is servicing carried out on a schedule of time or distance, before anything has failed.

The scheduling matters as much as the work: a service booked into a week the vehicle is already hired out is a service that gets postponed. Taking the vehicle out of availability for its dates is what makes the schedule real.
