One-way hire
A one-way hire is a rental collected at one location and returned at another, usually carrying a fee to cover repositioning.
The fee exists because the vehicle now has to be driven back, or sold at the wrong end of the country. Operators with more than one branch either price it properly or find their fleet slowly accumulating at whichever site customers most like to leave from.
