Fleet utilisation

Also called utilisation rate

Fleet utilisation is the share of available vehicle-days that were actually hired out, usually written as a percentage over a month.

Count the days each vehicle could have been hired, subtract the days it was off the road, and divide the days it was actually out by what is left. A yard running below about 60% in season is usually carrying vehicles it does not need; one running above 85% is turning work away.
